The fame for the fastest Rubik’s cube solution by human belongs to 14-year old Lucas Etter, who dealt with a cube in 4,904 seconds. But what about robots? Are they as fast as this skilled boy?
Two software engineers created a robot that solves Rubik’s cube in 5 times faster than Lucas! The machine consists of a number of stepper motors, 3d printed parts, web cameras and Arduino chip by Intel. Using Kociemba algorithm, it takes less than 1.2 seconds for the robot to get things done. Webcameras of the robots was covered before the starting button is pressed to show that it’s not “cheating” and test the machine.
The previous machine created to solve the Cube dealt with it in 3.253 seconds, so Jay Flatland and Paul Rose are now can apply for the world record.
