Jothi / Digital Potentiometer
A digital potentiometer (digipot) is an electronic component that mimics the function of a traditional mechanical potentiometer but is controlled digitally using signals like SPI or I2C. It consists of resistive elements and electronic switches that adjust the resistance in discrete steps. Digital potentiometers are commonly used in applications like volume control, sensor calibration, and adjustable power supplies since they offer precise, repeatable adjustments without mechanical wear and tear.
