A virtual radio module for Eurorack
- Full Documentation
- Hardware: Eagle CAD files
- Hardware: Parts List
- Firmware: Teensyduino files
- Report Issues with hardware or firmware
This is not a radio. It is a sample player that behaves like a radio.
A digital way to simulate radio-powered compositions by John Cage, Karlheinz Stockhausen and Don Buchla's voltage-controlled radio experiments. It uses a teensy3.1 to play files from a SD card to simulate a voltage controlled AM/FM/Shortwave/Time Travel radio.
Progress
November 2015 - Rev 3.1 Hardware Revision - 1k Resistors to reduce strain on IC4 when +5v or -0v - Larger resistor pads for easier soldering - Neater 7mm resistor outlines on Front board - Rev 3 Hardware Revision - Completely rerouted for improved grounding, slightly reduced noise - 11m hex spacer connects back and front PCBs together, stronger physical module - Reworked CV input circuits - Fixes distortion after module playing for hours - Straight header outlines for cleaner routing
February 2015 - Thonk kits shipping - Module being used by: - Robin Rimbaud (Scanner) - Chris Carter - Russell Haswell - Big collection of video and audio demos
January 2015 - Rev2 PCB Files confirmed good
December 2014 - Rev2 PCB files published, prototyping in process
November 2014 - First PCB build - Video 1 - Video 2 - Longer demo video - Audio: Long demo - Audio: Random Drums - Audio: Random Voices
October 2014 - Very early prototyping
Features
- 4hp x 40mm deep
